Work is now underway on the initial phase of Dublin’s significant Cherry Orchard Point housing development.

When complete, the scheme designed by Van Dijk Architects in Dublin 10, will provide 1,100 homes, as well as landscaped open spaces including a plaza, multipurpose amenity lawn, outdoor fitness trail, multi-use games area and a playground. Each home will be A-rated for energy efficiency, featuring heat pumps, solar panels, and high-quality insulation. The apartments will include balconies or terraces, with many enjoying views over communal parkland or landscaped courtyards.

In total, Phase One will comprise 28 studio apartments, 263 one-bed, 368 two-bed and 49 three-bed apartments, ranging in height from four to 15 storeys.

Delivered by John Sisk & Son (Holdings) Ltd, this initial phase also includes a supermarket unit, commercial/retail units, community, cultural and arts spaces, and a creche.

Beyond the addition of new homes, Cherry Orchard Point will also feature tree-lined streets, interconnected parks and civic spaces, whilst seamless access to integrated public transport will promote sustainable travel and create a safe, walkable environment.

An Coimisiún Pleanála has also recently approved planning permission for Phase Two, which includes 137 affordable purchase homes including 13 two-bed houses, 88 three-bed houses, 18 two-bed duplexes, and 18 three-bed duplexes.

This development complements wider Dublin City Council initiatives, including the redevelopment of Cherry Orchard Park into a sports hub and the creation of a village centre opposite St Ultan’s School, bringing new life and opportunity to the area.
