Making a Difference

We believe in forging a better future for the communities we help create. That’s why we work closely with our clients, stakeholders and local communities to leave a positive legacy through every project we deliver.

From our award-winning apprenticeship scheme and STEM initiatives through to our volunteering, charity and wellbeing programmes, we actively support and invest in local communities, schools and the next generation of engineers. We are passionate about tackling the climate emergency, and are committed to reaching Net Zero in line with the requirements for keeping global temperature rise under 1.5°C.

Through our Corporate Social Responsibility framework, we support our clients and partners to meet their own strategies and objectives, undertaking joint social value and community engagement activities on schemes of every scale. We draw upon our experience of delivering social value through our many framework appointments with public and private sector clients and long-term partnerships.

By understanding our clients’ priorities and setting out clear KPIs and tracking systems, we ensure social value is always delivered consistently, no matter what the scheme.

Waterman Moylan’s commitment to Social Value

Partnering with Hometree

The partnership will support Hometree’s community-led work to restore native ecosystems, boost biodiversity and create lasting environmental change across Ireland.

Waterman Moylan is pleased to announce a new partnership with Hometree, the west of Ireland-based environmental charity dedicated to restoring and protecting Ireland’s native woodlands. Through afforestation, conservation, ecosystem restoration and education, Hometree is helping to strengthen biodiversity while fostering deeper connections between communities and the natural environment. Its flagship Wild Atlantic Rainforest Project is working to safeguard and expand Ireland’s rare temperate rainforests, some of the country’s most ecologically significant habitats.

Hometree was founded with a vision to rebuild and sustain resilient ecosystems, with a particular focus on native temperate rainforest. While as much as 80% of Ireland was once covered in native wildwood, today it is one of the most deforested countries in Europe. Hometree is working to help change that.

Since taking ownership of the site, Hometree has worked closely with the local community to carry out ecological surveys and shape a targeted habitat restoration strategy. To date, the charity has also planted over 155,000 native trees across Ireland, including Scots pine, willow and alder.

You can find out more about Hometree here.

Volunteering with Hometree

To mark the beginning of our partnership, a group from our team visited Hometree’s headquarters in Ennistymon for a day of volunteering and learning. The team had the opportunity to get hands-on, potting native saplings and supporting one of Hometree’s rewilding projects through tree planting. It was a fantastic experience and a great way to see first-hand the important work being undertaken to restore Ireland’s natural landscapes.
