Cairn Homes’ Lanestown View development brings 72 new homes to the eastern outskirts of Donabate, North County Dublin. This coastal scheme comprises 40 semi-detached and terraced houses, eight duplex units in a single block, and 24 apartments within a four-storey block, creating a vibrant community in a sought-after location.

Set in a family-friendly area, residents will enjoy a wealth of amenities. A three km sandy beach lies to one side of the town, while Newbridge House & Farm sits to the other, offering parkland walks and heritage attractions. Golf enthusiasts will appreciate the variety of courses nearby, and the town itself provides schools, shops and leisure facilities for all ages.

Lanestown View benefits from excellent connectivity. The M1 motorway is just a five-minute drive away, linking Donabate to Dublin Airport and the city centre. For commuters, Donabate train station offers a direct 30-minute journey into Dublin, making this an ideal location for modern living.

Our team delivered full civil and structural engineering services for the development, from initial concept design through planning, detailed design, construction and handover. The scheme includes at-grade parking, secure bicycle storage, bin stores, an ESB substation, and a 1,800 sqm landscaped public open space featuring a playground. All foul and SuDS drainage, services and utilities were integrated into the design.

The flat nature of the site presented challenges for surface water management, addressed through innovative SuDS solutions. Two drainage catchments were created, with attenuation provided via a shallow depression in the northern park and a stone-filled ditch at the southern boundary. Flow control devices and underground storage ensure sustainable drainage and protect the adjacent stream during storm events.

Lanestown View represents a carefully considered medium-density scheme, balancing viability and risk during a period of construction inflation. Several design options were explored before planning approval, ensuring the development meets both community needs and environmental standards.
