The building design requirements were highly complex, demanding a detailed and robust brief for the mechanical and electrical systems. These services were critical to ensuring the facility could deliver optimised medical and healthcare provisions meeting the HSE’s needs.
Drawing on extensive experience across healthcare infrastructure, our specialist engineers guided the HSE team throughout the decision-making process. We delivered comprehensive mechanical and electrical services from preliminary design through to construction completion and the end-of-defects stage.
Designed in accordance with Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB) standards, the facility is heated by high-efficiency air source heat pumps that also meet the renewable energy requirements of NZEB compliance. The M&E installation for this highly serviced building includes centralised air handling units providing full mechanical ventilation to key areas, zoned heating systems with low surface temperature radiators, and LED lighting throughout. In addition, ICT systems have been designed to meet the HSE’s exacting requirements, while access control and security systems ensure a safe, functional, and efficient environment for all end users.
The project was delivered by a private sector client for the HSE as tenant, thus being procured under an RIAI contract rather than a public works contract.
