Located in the heart of Dublin, Ruby Molly Hotel is a 272-bedroom lifestyle hotel that combines contemporary design with the rich heritage of its historic surroundings.

Situated close to Temple Bar, the Guinness Storehouse and Dublin’s principal shopping districts, the development provides a vibrant city-centre destination while offering guests a comfortable urban retreat.

Constructed on the historic site of St. Mary’s Abbey, one of Dublin’s most significant medieval landmarks, the project required careful integration of modern development with heritage preservation. Extensive archaeological investigations uncovered historic remains, including foundations, walls and cobbled surfaces, many of which were preserved in situ to maintain a tangible connection to the site’s past.

We provided multidisciplinary consultancy services throughout the project, including civil, structural and building services engineering, as well as health and safety advice. Working closely with the John Fleming Architects and wider project team, we developed a structural solution comprising reinforced concrete and steel framing while retaining key historic elements. Acoustic performance was also a key design consideration, ensuring a high-quality guest experience within the busy city-centre location.

Sustainability was embedded throughout the development, with low-impact materials, reclaimed finishes and energy-efficient building services incorporated across the scheme. Features include air source heat pumps, smart lighting controls, demand-responsive HVAC systems and water-saving technologies, helping to reduce operational energy consumption and environmental impact.

The completed hotel successfully balances heritage conservation, modern hospitality and sustainable design, creating a distinctive new destination in Dublin’s historic core.
