The major redevelopment of Dublin’s Clerys Quarter has received a commendation, this time at the Structural Steel Design Awards (SSDA) 2023. Since 1969, SSDA’s have showcased exemplary steelwork projects in the UK and Ireland, which are exceptional when measured on a global benchmark.
Originally constructed in 1922, the refurbishment and extension of the historic Clerys department store has transformed the iconic city building to create a new retail, office and leisure destination. Developed by Oakmount in partnership with Europa Capital and Core Capital, this unique project involved the repair, restoration, and vertical extension of the original building, alongside the redevelopment of the overall site, bringing a new lease of life to this world-class Dublin landmark.
Working alongside architect, Henry J Lyons, and Glenbrier Construction our team provided civil and structural engineering designs which maximised the potential of the redevelopment, whilst preserving the historic building for future generations.
