Scoil an Spiorad Naoimh

Published 28th August 2024

Scoil an Spoiraid Naoimh, a senior primary school in County Meath’s Laytown offering primary education from years three to six, has completed the development of its new school building and complex.

Work on the project commenced in May 2022 and saw the demolition of the existing 16- classroom, single storey school building, along with the removal of prefabricated buildings. These were replaced with a new 4,100 sqm, two-story, 24-classroom complex which incorporates a general-purpose area, a special needs unit and ancillary teaching and staff accommodation.

The project also saw the restoration of the 1947-built 138 sqm former national school building, which is classified as a protected structure. Works also included a new vehicular entrance, play spaces with site landscaping and bike racks to encourage active travel, whilst fifty-five new parking spaces and general associated works were also added.

KSN Project Management, Ireland’s leading project management practice, provided advice and direction throughout pre and post construction, supporting the school during the transformation. Our team provided civil and structural engineering input as part of the technical advisory team on the new building, seeing us work alongside Reddy Architecture and Urbanism, Axis Engineers, Murphy Sheanon and Atkins.

The project has now been handed back over to Scoil an Spoirad Naoimh and opened on the 19th of June ready for the upcoming 2024-2025 admissions.
