Cost Planning and Viability

Today’s volatile global economic markets, coupled with the essential need to tackle the climate emergency, means that the engineering industry cannot stand still, and we constantly challenge and innovate to ensure we deliver best value built environment solutions.

We recognise that with uncertainty comes risk which can result in increased costs and reduced viability. In response, we provide consultancy services that deliver clear, concise solution – based
advice, forecasting risk from the outset.

Our multidiscipline experts work with you in partnership to support every aspect of your project, taking the time to fully understand the required outcomes and working to deliver results which
surpass expectations. We offer a unique service that incorporates engineering and environmental design for every aspect of your scheme, spanning all sectors and scales of project and encompassing
all specialisms.

Our expertise in Net Zero, circular economy and climate resilience is embedded across all our disciplines and we are industry leaders in this field. Our in – depth knowledge of new and emerging legislation is underpinned by our expertise in sustainable design, enabling us to guide you from the outset of any project.

The early design and feasibility stages of any scheme leading up to planning require iterative assessment and is the point in a project’s lifecycle at which most impact on viability can be achieved.
We dedicate highly experienced staff to supporting this pivotal process, and our collaborative culture
means we understand the complex, interwoven challenges faced by each discipline and work to overcome these so that optimum solutions can be delivered at pace.

We will work together with the project team to de-risk your project through proactive early engagement and consultation with targeted stakeholders and prioritise the identification of risks and opportunities.

Our extensive experience across both the public and private sectors has seen us develop a wealth of
expertise in providing transportation, infrastructure, civil and structural engineering, environmental, sustainability and building services solutions for any scheme.

Featured Project

Hilton Hotel,  This 170 bedroom hotel is located at a major road junction between the N32, Northern Cross and the Malahide Road and forms a key element in the Dublin City Council development framework.

The hotel includes a restaurant, bar, leisure centre and a large function room. The development includes a mixed retail and residential scheme adjacent comprising 105 apartments and a number of ground floor retail units. The five storey plus penthouse hotel structure is constructed over a single level basement. The building structure is reinforced in-situ concrete construction from foundation rafts and pads to a transfer structure at first floor, and precast concrete crosswall and flooring system above first floor. Precast concrete architectural panels have been used for the external facade of the building.

The project included the upgrading of the existing single carriageway Malahide Road into an urban dual carriageway, tree lined boulevard in front of the development. The road upgrade and associated utility and services diversions was completed while successfully maintaining the very heavy traffic flows along the road throughout the construction period. The works involved complex phasing and extensive traffic management measures.

Waterman Moylan provided a full-time Resident Engineer on-site for six months to assist with the implementation of the road scheme and to ensure smooth liaison with the Council traffic department.

The hotel was procured to a very tight programme. Construction commenced in January 2004 and the hotel opened for business in mid 2005.
